Min kollega Brian fik æren af at stå for inspiration til vores inspirationstime fredag den 21/2. Her er de to TED talks vi så og efterfølgende diskuterede:
Renny Gleeson: 404, the story of a page not found: http://ted.com/talks/shawn_achor_the_happy_secret_to_better_work (4 min)
Shawn Achor: The happy secret to better work: http://ted.com/talks/shawn_achor_the_happy_secret_to_better_work (12 min)
Hvis man har tid til overs kan jeg også anbefale dem her:
Rives: Reinventing the encyclopedia game: http://ted.com/talks/rives_reinventing_the_encyclopedia_game (11 min)
Kelli Anderson: Design to challenge reality: http://ted.com/talks/kelli_anderson_design_to_challenge_reality (16 min)
Our bi-weekly inspirational hour at work was this week organised by myself, I had chosen a short animated movie explaining all about product ownerships and the process in a agile scrum based development environment.
It’s a really great intro to how things should/could be. Great inspiration to our own process and led to some great discussions afterwards.
Watch the presentation below.
The video and presentation is done by Henrik Kniberg from Crisp, here is his blog post.
Today’s injection of inspiration came from two TED talks.
First I watched Dan Pink on The puzzle of motivation and inspiring talk about what motivated people to perform.
One key element I can take with me from this talk is that incentives don’t always work, they don’t always motivate people. Instead the drive to do things for their own sake. The drive to do things cause they matter have a much higher influence on great results. This is a mismatch between what science knows and what business does.
Next I watched Simon Sinek on How great leaders inspire action.
The key take away is definitely People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it. Tell people what you believe not what you do or how you do it… Martin Luther King held the I have a dream speech not the I have a plan speech. Those who lead inspire us. We follow not because we have to, but because we want to.
Now go watch yourself, highly recommend.
In the thursday keynote at DrupalCon Prague Aral Balkan gave credit to The Noun Project… Cool ressource I will have to remember that one.
We consume massive amounts of so called food, check this video and give it a thought the next time you stand in the supermarket and choose between price and quality (animals that have a slightly better life).
